Importing DJI Enterprise Drones into Canada: Duties, GST and Transport Canada Registration

Canadian public-safety, utility and farm buyers often ask whether to import a US-invoice DJI kit or buy from a Canadian authorized dealer. The short answer: a Canadian invoice usually costs less in surprises. Here is the checklist we walk through on enterprise quotes.

    Buy Canadian vs self-import

A US website price can look lower until you add brokerage, GST, a possible duty line, a week of CBSA questions on lithium batteries, and the risk that DJI treats the unit as the wrong region for warranty. ASI Computer Technologies, Inc. invoices from 7277 Nelson Rd, Richmond, BC V6W 1G3, Canada, ships with the correct dangerous-goods paperwork, and is listed on DJI's Canadian Enterprise dealer directory.

The same DJI enterprise line is catalogued for the channel on ASI Canada's Matrice pages. asipartner.us is the quote-and-ship storefront for configured systems.

    Taxes and the invoice

    • GST/HST follows the ship-to province on taxable supplies. See CRA GST/HST. We print the treatment on the quote.
    • Tax-exempt agencies should send certificates with the PO so we do not have to re-bill.
    • Self-import makes you the importer of record. Budget brokerage and a delay if the carrier holds a battery crate.

    After the crate lands

    1. Register every aircraft over 250 g with Transport Canada.
    2. Confirm the pilot certificate: Advanced for most small Matrice / Mavic 3 Enterprise work; Level 1 Complex for many medium AGRAS and FlyCart flights after November 2025.
    3. Check airspace in NAV Drone before the first mission.
    4. Activate DJI Care Enterprise inside the enrollment window — we can do this on authorized-channel serials.

What we put on an enterprise quote

DJI Matrice 400, DJI Matrice 4T, DJI Mavic 3E and DJI AGRAS T50 quotes itemise airframe, batteries, charging, payloads, Care and training. Lead times are written. We do not hide freight inside a "free shipping" banner on lithium kits.

Send mission type, ship-to city and whether you need a PO. WhatsApp or [email protected] — office hours Mon–Fri 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Pacific Time). Corporate contact details also appear on ASI Canada's contact page.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do I pay GST on a DJI drone bought in Canada?

Taxable supplies in Canada generally attract GST/HST at the rate of the destination province. ASI Computer states tax treatment on the quote. Tax-exempt agencies should send their exemption documents with the PO.

    Can I import a US-bought Matrice myself?

You can, but you become the importer of record: CBSA accounting, GST, possible duties, and lithium-battery documentation. Serials must still be registered with Transport Canada if the aircraft is over 250 g. Grey-market or wrong-region units may also fail DJI warranty and Care enrollment.

Is a Matrice legal to fly on delivery?

Owning it is not the same as flying it. Register aircraft over 250 g, hold the correct RPAS pilot certificate, and check NAV CANADA airspace. Medium-class AGRAS and FlyCart operations may need a Level 1 Complex certificate after the November 2025 rules.

Why buy from ASI Computer instead of a US website?

We are a DJI Authorized Dealer listed for Canada, invoice in a Canadian legal entity, ship with UN3481 battery declarations, and can activate DJI Care Enterprise. You can verify us on DJI's dealer directory.
